Tonics can be overused, or underused. TCM practitioners often start treatment with tonics, which often sabotages the need to prioritize underlying excess conditions. However, tonics become important once excesses are treated, or when patients arrive with frank deficiencies of qi, blood, yin or yang, especially as they age. A number of modern formulas have emerged that boost the classical repertoire.

In this course, Jake will discuss using modern herbal products to treat deficiency conditions.

  • The student will have an overview of Western medical criteria for aging, fatigue, and general depletion.
  • The student will be able to identify and differentiate various TCM syndromes relating to deficiencies of qi, blood, yin, yang and jing.
  • The student will be able to identify and differentiate classical and modern Chinese herbal formulas appropriate for tonification according to TCM parameters.

This course is part of a 6-course series. If you purchase one or more courses individually before signing up for the whole series, you will be given credit toward the purchase of the series. To learn more about the complete series, click here.
